The WGM Archive Committee has been sifting through historical material such as newsletters, old photographs, and board minutes, and uploading them to the Minnesota Digital Library for public viewing. These interesting items can be viewed at Minnesota Reflections https://reflections.mndigital.org by searching for terms such as  ‘weaving’ or ‘loom’ or ‘spinning’. Be sure to look at Hilma Berglund’s beautiful handmade Christmas cards by searching for ‘Berglund’.

In the process of archiving these materials, we have uncovered many fascinating tidbits about the guild, such as:

  • The guild was originally called the Twin Cities Weavers Guild. In 1955 the name was changed to Minnesota Weavers Guild and, by 1968, to Weavers Guild of Minnesota.
  • The logo has changed through the years as well. These are some of the logos that we have used:

The first logo was designed by Hilma Berglund in 1940.

The second logo was also designed by Hilma Berglund in 1956.

Julie Nester designed this logo in 2001.
