Dear Weavers Guild Community,

Over the last few days, the WGM Board of Directors and staff have been planning our response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. We have carefully considered how to support and protect the health and well-being of our community:  our members, instructors, students, shoppers, staff, and supporters. In other words, You. This letter is intended to bring you up to speed and to ask for your support and understanding.

On March 14, the Board held an emergency meeting at which we determined that WGM will temporarily close, starting March 15 and lasting through April 5. This action is proceeding out of an abundance of caution on behalf of our community. Your health and well-being must come before the regular business of the Guild. Update: The Board voted on March 26 that the closure will last through April 30.

What this means for you, and others who rely on our resources:

  • Education: All classes from now to April 30 will be cancelled and WGM will offer refunds. Staff will be in contact with students with more information.
  • Fiber Source: The shop will close until further notice. We will not accept donations of goods during this time.
  • Events: Member events and programming in April will be postponed.
  • Meetings: All in person meetings will be suspended until further notice. For Committees and the Board, WGM will offer resources for virtual meetings.

While WGM is closed, staff will work on and off-site as necessary to maintain WGM operations, respond to questions and concerns, and work to keep our organization functional. They are available most easily by email. You’ll continue to see updates in the Draft and on our website and calendar.

The Board’s decision will be reassessed at the end of March (if not sooner), and we’ll reach out with updates as they happen. In the meantime, please keep connected, as we truly do value each and every one of you.

On behalf of WGM’s Board and staff,

Celeste Grant

Board President, Weavers Guild of Minnesota
