SKILLED HANDS: A Wonderful Winter Exhibit

2018-01-18T11:07:29+00:00 January 15th, 2018|News|

Skilled Hands: Works by Weavers Guild of Minnesota Instructors is on view at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault, Minnesota, through February 24, 2018.  Please join us at the reception this Friday, January 19 at 5 PM – 7 PM.

Cold snaps keep visiting Minnesota, perhaps the perfect time to visit the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault and think….mermaids and water.  Think warm when you see Ann Masemore’s strapless dress constructed of handwoven plastic strips in shades of aqua.

Look closely, and you will find a trout in one of Becka Rahn’s digitally printed poly crepe de chine scarves.

The blocks of blue in a rep weave rug by Kelly Marshall bring to mind water in the shade and sun, running over rocks.

Pelicans capture the moon while standing in a stream dotted with lily pads in Marie Westerman’s weaving in triple weave, “Gravitational Pull.”

In Minnesota those pelicans would be frozen solid right now! There are warm wooly items in the show, too. A Minnesota mermaid might appreciate Judy Goebel’s warm woolen shawl on her bare shoulders.

Doreen Hartzell’s skeins of yarn in golden hues are draped in a corner of sunshine.

The Weavers Guild of Minnesota is privileged to have teaching staff of incredible talent and reputation.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see the work of many of them at one time.  Also, many of the works are for sale.
