Roc Day Recap!
by Neal Goman
A big thanks to all that attended Roc Day Sun Jan 7th. It was fun to see all the interactions.
We had up to 50 attendees over the 5 hours. The food was great and plentiful. While everyone was spinning and weaving a silent auction was held and 5 alpaca fleeces found new homes, the proceeds going to furthering the guilds mission. Part of that mission is to allow members access to shared equipment, be it a spinning wheels from our diverse stable or a large loom for group projects.
A number of wheels were “kicked” as members tried wheels from different manufactures to see how they spun. A couple of guests brought in some quilts to show. Impromptu tours were given to new members and I don’t think Robbie LaFleur expected to be giving demos of the Dobby loom.
It was great to see so many new and old faces enjoying their passions and company. The only issue was having to carry all our stuff down the stairs at the end due to elevator problems. But at least it was down and not up!
