New and Occasional Weavers (NOW) Interest Group
Don’t let the name of this group pull the wool over your eyes! New and Occasional Weavers is a generalist group—open to any level weaver who has an interest in the topic being discussed. Some topics are introductory or entry level, others not so much. Through the topic presentation and Q/A, you can pick up tips, tidbits and inspiration to enhance your weaving and expand your horizons. No question is too small or silly to ask; someone will have an answer or suggestion. It’s a great place to share weaving wisdom. Presenters are WGM members with an interest in/knowledge of/experience with the topic. We do not work on group projects; however, we do ‘show and tell’ of our individual projects.
In past meetings we have focused on various weave structures (i.e., twill, rosepath, summer/winter, overshot, taquete), weaving tools, weaving resources, types of looms, skills such as reading a draft, using tabby, record keeping and sectional warping.
If the meeting topic is of interest to you, please join. All members are welcome!
We meet the second Sunday of the month from 1-2:30 pm from September to May.
