Members of the Scandinavian Weavers interest group are planning a trip to southern Sweden next summer to take a weaving class with Gunvor Johansson, author of Heirlooms of Skane showcasing Swedish art weaves. Some of us were fortunate to take a class with Gunvor in 2017 and you may have seen articles in the Norwegian Textile Letter or heard the presentation about it at the member meeting last March. The class will be held July 8-12, 2019, at the Skane Hemslojd in Landskrona, Sweden, just a short train ride across the Oresund Bridge from Copenhagen, Denmark. The cost of the class is $2800 Swedish kronor and the materials fee $400 Swedish kronor (approx. $350 total). There is also an option to take a Flemish weaving (tapestry) class the following week July 15-19 from another teacher, Marianne Asp. The cost for that class is the same. Each person will be responsible for their own travel plans (hotel, flights, etc.) but some of us plan to travel together in small group. So far, six of us are confirmed for Gunvor’s class, but to fill the class we need eight, so there is room for two more. A meeting to discuss travel plans and other nearby sight seeing destinations will be scheduled soon.  For more information, contact Melba Granlund at melba.granlund@gmail.com.
