About Classifieds

The classifieds is a FREE service provided by the Weavers Guild of Minnesota. Anyone can post or respond to ads on the site.

The classifieds are intended to facilitate:

• the re-sale of supplies related to weaving, spinning and dyeing
• commissioned help (to search for a skilled craftsperson to do x)
• In select cases, WGM may also approve ads for other content. If you have questions, please contact us before submitting.

Information for Sellers

Each ad is free and up for 90 days and includes space for one photo. All ads must be approved before publication. 

USERS AVOID SCAMS AND FRAUD

The Classifieds are a public site, and are viewable by anyone. Protect yourself from scams and fraud and use good judgment when selling or making an offer on an item.

• DO NOT SEND/ACCEPT PAYMENTS THAT ARE ANYTHING OTHER THAN CASH
  • Signs of Fraud: Requesting payment by cashier check, money order, electronic transfers; threatening to take action if there isn’t immediate payment
• DO NOT SHIP OR PAY FOR A SHIPPING SERVICE
  • Signs of Fraud: Asking for the item to be shipped; asking to use a shipping service and claiming they will reimburse you
• SALES SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONDUCTED IN PERSON
  • Signs of Fraud: Inability to meet face-to-face, refusal to talk on the phone, wanting to send a third party
• UNFAMILIAR WITH WEAVING/SPINNING TERMS
  • Signs of Fraud: Making vague inquiries, e.g. asking about “the item”,
• RESPONSES APPEAR ROBOTIC OR IMPERSONAL OR ESCALATE EMOTIONALLY
  • Signs of Fraud: Poor grammar/spelling and oddly phrased emails, copy and paste emails, short replies with no new information
