Rag Rug Study Group
We build on a long legacy of encouraging, challenging, and supporting Rag Rug Weavers at all expertise levels. Our meetings are held at 6 P.M. on the third Tuesday of each month. At our meetings, there is time to freely share tips and answer any weaving questions. We always have time for admiration and inspiration as we share what we have been weaving, and it is not just rugs! As a group, we explore new techniques, colors, and designs in both individual and group projects. We also warp and use the Guild Glimakra loom for group projects. Our two most recent projects on the Guild loom were shadow weave and Moorman rugs. The current individual challenge is to weave black and white rugs- any style, any pattern. As a group, we also weave rugs to donate to charities and prepare rug displays to share our weavings.
Through the years, our group has built up an impressive archive that honors the past traditions, encourages and expands the skills of the current weavers, and plans for the traditions of Rag Rug weaving to continue in future generations. To quote Nedra Granquist, “We build up the prestige of Rag Rugs.”
