Rigid Heddle Interest Group
The urge to weave often comes from seeing someone else carefully slide the shuttle through the shed over and over again. It becomes a meditative practice that we want to be part of. That is when we find a loom, fiber and then a community that we can share our love of this craft. The Rigid Heddle Interest Group is full of fiber lovers that share a passion for the simple rigid heddle because it is portable, affordable and fits with a simpler way of creating a fabric.
The RHIG meets the second Monday of each month where we share what we have been or wish to make and get support for finding new yarns, patterns or fixing a weaving dilemma. We like to push the boundaries of what this “basic” loom can do and it is such fun to share and learn from a like-minded group of people whose eyes don’t glaze over when we mention weaving. Our Zoom format has made it easier to be together during this time.
