Calling all members: We need you! Here is a great opportunity for your voice to be heard. Join the Board of the Weavers Guild of Minnesota and help guide our guild, almost 80 years strong, into the future. Do you have a background in law or education? Maybe you ran your own business, have accounting or bookkeeping experience, or have served on other boards? We humbly ask for you to volunteer your time and expertise on our Board of Directors.
Terms are two years long, beginning on September 1 (the start of our fiscal year). This years’ slate of candidates would serve until 2021, with the option to renew at that time. Terms are staggered so several board members will be serving through August 2020, which helps to facilitate an easier transition between incoming and outgoing board members as the entire board does not transition on/off at the same time. Board training can be provided.
The primary role of the board is fiscal oversight and Guild sustainability. Issues facing the board are education and programming development, our relationship with Textile Center/building and space concerns, ongoing development and fundraising activities, as well as the creation of our next Strategic Plan.
As part of your service, you will commit to preparing for and attending monthly Board meetings, providing financial oversight on behalf of the organization through sound decision making, volunteering time in support of other guild operations and committees, and general leadership of the organization. Your voice and skills are very important to the future of the Weavers Guild.
