Portable Weavers’ Ornament Challenge Winner
The votes are in! Bonnie Buzza’s Matryoshka doll family received the most votes in a close race with the Woven Picot Flowers by Shirley McKee of Ohio. Voters were charmed by Bonnie’s stitched family, including the basket carried by the mom, also handwoven by Bonnie, who lives in Arden Hills. In addition to leading the Portable Weavers Interest Group. Bonnie is a basket maker and an active member of the Minnesota Basket Weaver’s Guild. Shirley is a new member of WGM who is participting in the ornament challenge for the first time.
About: The Portable Weavers are a small group of Weavers Guild members interested in any form of small, portable, and off-loom weaving or braiding. The group meets monthly to share ideas and projects, and learn from each other. Last fall, the Portable Weaving Interest Group invited all members of the Guild to join in making holiday/winter ornaments. All traditions, materials and techniques were welcome.
