WGM February Member Meeting & Film Screening
Sunday, February 10, 2–4 pm
Location: George Latimer Central Library, Andy Boss Community Room (4th floor)
Join us for a winter matinee at the George Latimer Central Library (Saint Paul). We’ve reserved a large room to show the feature film Rams (93 minutes, in Icelandic with English subtitles), an award winner at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.
With a 95% rating on movie critic site Rotten Tomatoes, Rams has been described as “a far from woolly tale” with “bone dry humour.” The film is set in a remote sheep farming valley in Iceland, and tells the tale of two brothers who live side by side but haven’t spoken in 40 years. Their differences are reconciled when they have to work together to save what is important to their lives and livelihoods, that is, their sheep! More on the film–>
This film will interest spinners and weavers alike! Bring family and friends. As a bonus, you will also learn about Icelandic fleece and how to spin it!
Please note, this film contains adult themes and may not be appropriate for all audiences.
Please note the off-site location:
George Latimer Central Library
(1/3 mile west of Union Depot in downtown St. Paul, across from Rice Park)
Why move off-site? We found a room that can be darkened for showing a matinee film. The conference room accommodates up to 70 people and has a screen, projector and audio system. Also, the St. Paul public library system provides these rooms to non-profits at no charge.
Why weekend instead of Thursday evening? We’re following up on a suggestion from several members to have occasional winter meetings during the day.
Interested in carpooling? Use this form to find others who wish to carpool.
