Hilma Berglund (1886 – 1972), weaving instructor at the University of Minnesota and cofounder of our Weavers Guild, named the loom she invented the Minnesota Multi-Use Loom. A Swedish weaver, Margaret Bergman of Polsboro, Washington had named the loom that she designed, the Bergman Loom. Hilma realized that the similarity of the two names would be confusing and so she chose to name her loom after her home state.
