Try It! Sami-Inspired Bracelet

These bracelets are based on the designs of the Sami people, who are the native people from the far northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Students will learn to make a four-strand braid using tin thread, and will then hand sew their piece to reindeer leather to finish an elegant bracelet.

Woven Painting : Painted Weaving

Learn a unique process that is both painting and weaving. Instead of using cotton canvas, students will create a woven painting using polystyrene sheets – a material that can be painted on and cut into shapes and strips. WGM is excited to partner with the Dakota County Library adult programming and St. Paul Public Schools Community Education to offer some of our shorter weaving and spinning and other fiber technique classes at library and public school locations throughout Dakota and Ramsey counties. The Weavers Guild is a weaver, spinner, and dyer-driven (that means you!) arts non-profit. Our physical space, store, and education programs make us unique among guilds. Learn about these resources (and more!) and how you can take advantage as part of your Guild membership.

Join us each term at the Guild for a no-cost overview that covers online and onsite resources, equipment rental, Fiber Source,  the Textile Center Library and Dye Lab, and more. Taking advantage of these resources keeps our learning community strong. Useful to members both new and old!
