Multi-Level classes offer a basic introduction in the subject and provide an opportunity for a higher level of practice and skill. Try It! Dye It to Spin It
Explore hand painting wool rovings and immersion dyeing using acid dyes. Students will learn to prepare wool, choose a color palette and pick up tips for creating their own color formulas. General dye lab safety, dye mixing, multiple techniques for heat setting, and rinsing of wool will be covered.

Try It! Tapestry
Tapestry weaving is a beautiful art form and craft. Explore some basic techniques on a simple, portable loom. Students will learn to select yarn, understand how to approach materials and create a basic tapestry. If you have your own frame loom bring it along. All materials are included.

Off Loom
Knotless Netting/Looping
Learn an ancient technique of thread manipulation used by numerous cultures to create a textile that resembles knitting. The only tool needed is a large tapestry needle. Learn a variety of stitch textures for fabrics ranging from open and stretchy to firm and dense. Looping is a good technique for creating small pouches, or to finish other textiles.

NEW Needle Felting Embellishments
Add some zing by needle felting embellishments! Needle felting is quickly taking over as an art form and is a very creative way to enhance wool items that are knit, woven or felted. Students can choose to create a colorful project from scratch using provided materials or bring in a wool jacket, scarf, mittens, hat or other item to embellish. Needle felting is fun and a very cool way to add fabulous surface designs to everyday things!

Warp Painting
Learn to use Procion MX Fiber Reactive dyes and mix custom colors by painting a warp for a scarf. Students will learn how to choose fibers for warps, make the warps so that they do not tangle, and how to mix custom colors. There will be a discussion on choosing appropriate weft colors and weights, and the best ways to weave with painted warps. No previous dyeing experience is needed to enjoy this class. This class is suitable for both rigid heddle and floor loom weavers!

Painted Wool Skeins & Silk Scarf
Have you seen the beautiful hand painted yarns and scarves in the shops and wish you could do that yourself? Well, you can! In this one day class, students will have fun painting wool skeins and a silk scarf in a color palette they create while learning the basics of dyeing. Each student will leave with two variegated skeins that they can knit or weave into something wonderful and a beautiful scarf to wear! Bring your wool or silk warp if you have them.

Independent Acid Dye Projects
Have you taken "Painted Wool Skeins" class and now want to experiment more with painting wool or silk? Spend a few hours in the dye lab to dye your protein fibers - wool, silk or alpaca. Some ideas may be warps, skeins, roving, fabric, and scarves. Bring your own dye and items to dye. Auxiliaries and instructor assistance will be available. Students registering for both sessions only pay one Dye Lab Fee.
