Goals
The goal of the newly formed Weavers Guild of Minnesota in 1940 was to provide a way to sharing the knowledge of weaving, spinning, and dyeing with others.
The present day goals have expanded to include:
- Presenting lectures, classes, and workshops in fiber arts.
- Providing equipment and classroom space.
- Mentoring fiber art teachers.
- Developing and preserving library, technical, and research resources.
- Promoting an interest in fiber arts.
- Encouraging and assisting fiber artists.
- Inspiring fiber artists and fostering pride in craftsmanship.
- Building community connections.
Woven cloth has roots in ancient traditions but is unfolding as well into an increasingly popular art form. Exhibitions of student and member work grace the walls of the weaving rooms and illustrate the accomplishments of our goals, and breadth and depth of the talent and skill of guild members.
